Breezy Mountain Leather is a re-locatable leather design, manufacturing and wholesale/retail business run by a master craftsperson with a successful 45-year history. The business comes with a line of classic and modern handbags and some accessories, great relationships with vendors, customers, and suppliers, all the design and manufacturing tools and equipment needed, a complete trade/art show setup, website and catalog, current inventory, and complete training in manufacturing and running of the business. BML’s products are stunning, classic designs and heirloom quality. The handbags are uniquely distinguished with inlaid semi-precious stones (e.g., turquoise).

The owner, Valerie A Szarek, is retiring after 45 years. She began in 1973 as a custom and repair leather shop in Michigan and relocated to Colorado in 1978. BML has designed and manufactured products for General Motors, Harley Davidson, Coors, Izzo (a golf strap), Crow's Nest Trading Company, The Territory Ahead, and Marlboro (a vest). BML designed the first laptop computer case for IBM. This business has a long and prestigious history and a great artisan story.

In 2007 Val entered the wholesale market selling handbags and accessories to retail stores, galleries and catalog companies. She reworked the designs into a high volume production format while keeping their artistic aspect ( and Val can be available to help create new designs going foward). Val created sales materials, built relationships, etc. Over time, BML’s products have been in many stores and catalogs throughout the U.S including New York, Pennsylvania, Florida, Arizona, New Mexico, California, Alaska, and Hawaii.

This turnkey business is firmly established and has enormous growth potential. Leather goods are always in high demand; these products keep their value. There are few direct competitors, particularly in wholesale/art shows. Everything exists to maintain and grow a thriving business: desired designs, access to raw materials, equipment, wholesale relationships, etc. Business opportunities include expanding direct internet sales, setting up Etsy, adding wholesale accounts, attending more wholesale/art shows, expanding the line, expanding the highly profitable repair market, creating custom products, and further optimizing BML’s already efficient production.

The studio is currently equipped to produce $5-6000 revenue per week with 2 people full-time and a part-time sewer(s). This capacity has been reached in the past, and recent production has been a bit under half this amount.

Included in the sale price is complete training with Val, a master leather artisan with 45 years of experience. Val is a wonderful and generous teacher and can be available to bounce ideas off and help develop new designs and patterns going forward.
